MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City government today closed down two gasoline refilling stations for defective and unauthorized gasoline pumps.
City Administrator Vic Endriga said Flying V gas station along Mindanao Avenue only has a permit to sell liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
"LPG lang ang permit nila. They have no permit for the gasoline pumps," Endriga said in a radio interview.
He said that during an inspection, they even discovered that some of the pumps are defective.
Prior the operation, the gas station's management should have secured the necessary permits, Endriga said.
"Unlike other local government units that have been inspecting gas station annually, here in Quezon City we inspect and calibrate their pumps every three months," Endriga added.
The gas station will be indefinitely closed until the owners get the necessary permits.
After a separate inspection, the city government also closed down the Caltex refilling station in Lagro.
Endriga said that the pump used for the premium gas at the Caltex refilling station is defective.
He said that with every liter of the premium gasoline, motorists are short-changed by 150 ml.
He added that the city hall inspection team also discovered that the gas station's management also failed to secure a mayor's permit
